Cheating he claims lol, well technically the mc did have a head start by saving her from being completely absorbed (aka dying) by evil energy, not letting her light be extinguished and already released his light energy that she's already addicted to. But, of course the light child will win since he has the ultimate light and mc blessing. Plus it only makes sense she chose him and only reuniting with the one who found her and saved her life.

Tbh I would be a lil irrated that he got her without doing anything but the leader made the rules. And hey he fought a freaking demon that's two levels above him and had to kl his girl down at the same time. I think he deserved it since he saved her.

However, he's a big hard back man fighting a child because he got the fairy. He's displaying poor behavior as a leader and it's sickening

Unfortunately there are not that many strong humans vs demon numbers so you will find rotten apples one way or another.

I wouldn't say he's rotten, he might have good intentions and really want to help strengthen humanity, but is clouded by strength and making his team the ultimate saviors. People have been known to start off righteous but led astray by personal gain and advancing by any means necessary. Seems to be a little selfish and big headed, losing sight of the true goal, wanting most of the praise and status and power smh.

I think he'll be corrected in his behavioral ways and see his error, since if he truly cares about humanity's survival and protecting them, he'll understand it might be a personal loss, but a win for humanity in the long run. And probably even help the mc to increase his strength and guide him along his journey, especially as a fellow light elementalist. Giving him invaluable knowledge the mc may need to know to prosper, to make the mc's chances for higher success, and to how to be efficient with his contract with the light fairy. Well, I hope he does that is...

I'm telling right now. I don't think that's going to happen. Every time he argues it's never based in rational thinking. It's always bashful and boastful. A mentor acknowledges his shortcomings etc. His only strength is strength that's it. He's the type to gatekeep so everyone's beneath or dependent on him. I'll rejoice if he gets his act together like the MC's knight but I kinda find that doubtful

The animation is great but i really don't like the changes to the source material (especially this arc), i know they do that to make it more interesting as an anime but it make it fell unnatural at times

From what i remember : About the arrival The demon hunts teams reach the pass at the same time in their carriage (there is no "reach the pass within 3 days test") His retainer knight is with him way before reaching the pass (he also took part in the test fight against the knight responsible for them(gao yingjie))

About the first attack The first attack happens after they meet with the battalion commander, during this meeting, the battalion commander is afraid that they will not obey his command and put his men and themselves in danger (due to lacking experience and him having this happen with previous squad). Long hao chen reassure him on these points.
I also don't remember anything related to episode 58 (searching for the grass) during the exorcist pass ark

About Cai er's father There is no captured assassins, instead there is a counter attack with the whole knight/assassin unit under his command, they are ambushed by invisible demons and hao yue use a spell to reveal them saving the squad. The confrontation with the demon gods doesn't really have any big change in events, but the aftermath is different : he is summonned to explain why he was on the battlefield.

To prevent a fallout between the 2 temples, he says that it was him that asked to come with the regiment, cai er's granpa isn't fooled but gao yingjie is and he is furious, he confiscate all his points earned during the counter attack and says that if he do something like that again, his squad will be disbanded (he didn't disband it now due to the regiment saying that they would have been wiped out if not for hao chen and his mount), he is furious with him even after the meeting.

About the light fairy The knights overseeing the demon hunt squads are observing the team but never participate in the attack of the convoy (they also observe the fight of the 1st team and prepare themselves to rescue them but they don't need it in the end). Both long hao chen and cai er fell unconscious and wake up only after coming back

The higher ups want to give the light fairy to hao chen but don't want others to think that they are playing favorite so a selection by the fairy is held but only between the demon hunt squad members, the one showing dissatisfaction (in his head) is the captain of his sister's squad (the priest) but it's more in a agressive rival kind of way and there is no fight or ill will like what is teased

Oh that’s interesting… I guess they wanted to make it more entertaining for viewers, hopefully they keep the rivalry to something similar to blondie from the second team.

Oh wow, thanks for the info. I just commented how I don’t think the guy is actually bad but just clouded by such an amazing opportunity. That he'd eventually see the error in his ways and behavior, correcting it and even possibly guide the mc with invaluable knowledge and the contract with the light fairy.
